In the mid 80s, ASTAROTH was one of the brightest stars of European Heavy Metal. With their original, ahead-of-its-time sound, they were the first Italian band ever to sign a deal with a foreign label. After years spent honing their craft both in rehearsal room and on stage, “The Long Loud Silence” was released by Dutch entity Rave On Records. The story of Astaroth is not one with a happy ending, as told by the band’s members in their own words within the liner notes accompanying this reissue. They definitely deserved the chance of recording a full album which never happened. Nevertheless, their legacy lives on in the hearts of old (and hopefully new!) fans. The story of five young kids from the Eternal City, who dressed as Roman soldiers out to conquer their portion of glory on the battlefield of Heavy Metal.
